DNA Collection Services
DNA Testing
is changing the face of civil investigations and private criminal
matters, and Oliver, Yaskiw & Associates Inc. is on the cutting
edge of this technology.
Certified by Maxxam, Oliver, Yaskiw & Associates
Inc. offers DNA Collection Services for
foolproof identity verification in cases of disputed paternity,
or for forensic identification. Our certified DNA technicians have
been extensively trained to gather DNA samples for analysis. These
samples are then sent to MAXXAM Analytics in Guelph, Ontario, for
DNA Testing.
What is DNA Testing?
When you need absolute confirmation or exclusion
of identity, no method provides more advantages than DNA testing
using polymerase chain reaction technology (PCR).
This technique is well suited to forensic, or
genetic relationship analysis. Reference samples can be easily and
non-intrusively obtained from cheek (buccal) swabs in a legally
defensible manner. Questioned samples are similarly amenable to
PCR analysis whether varied in type (blood, semen, saliva, hair,
etc.) or difficult to analyze.
Who May Require DNA Testing?
- A mother seeking child support from an alleged
father
- A father seeking visitation rights to, or custody
of, a child
- Adopted children seeking their biological parents
- Persons seeking lost relatives
- Parties to estate and inheritance claims
- Persons querying the source of a biological fluid
or tissue
- Persons seeking immigration eligibility
The Collection Process
The DNA Collection Service provided by Oliver,
Yaskiw & Associates Inc. for paternity testing is simple, easy,
painless and non-invasive. Samples are collected by swabbing buccal
(cheek) cells with a soft sponge using strict "chain-of-custody"
procedures.
Typically, samples are required from the mother,
child and alleged father, although definitive results can also be
obtained without a sample from the mother and in some instances
with other family members substituting for the alleged father.
